Ordering: Wow ok, I drove up to see families with kids playing under the carport and everyone laughing and having a good time, I figured it was some sort of get together but I soon realized by how familiar the staff and customers were that all these people were regulars and everyone came here for more than just the food. The redhead who served me was "diner fabulous" She was quick witted, friendly, and made sure all chaos ran smoothly. Because (yeah I'm one of those customers) I had to change an order on the fly, I braced myself for it to be too late, but she ran back, used cool diner slang and smiled saying "done" and continued to serve other customers, including a little girl who came in four times demanding odds and ends for her boisterous table outside. A number was called out, I fumbled for my receipt and she shouted "Where'd you go honey!?" only to see me, hand me my food personally, and wish my a great evening. Food: Delicious. I hate mushrooms and LOVED the deep fried mushrooms. The burger was well made and my the fried clams were as good as some places at Sea Side. I will defiantly be back to this location. Maybe even become a regular myself.

Mike's has great quality hamburger for their hamburgers. And they have buffalo (not water buffalo but bison). That is a bonus. Plus, their milkshakes are way above average. When I grab lunch or dinner at Mike's, it takes me back in time. Except for the fact that if one did have a time machine, the burgers would be smaller. Mike's has nice big generous burgers. As for the buns, well there is room for improvement. The gluten in the buns is pretty debilitating and the flavor of the buns is far from fresh-baked caliber. If the owner or management of Mikes is reading this review: consider getting fresh baked buns from a local bakery rather than ordering them bulk from some big supplier like Costco or wherever you get them.

This place is pretty good. The food comes pretty quickly. The burgers are messy! We like that we can bring our dog to eat with us on the patio. The only negative is the place needs a renovation. It doesn't matter how clean it is, the kitchen looks old and that's kind of hard to justify in food service.

I'm not sure if this counts as fast food, but if it does, it is my favorite fast food restaurant. If not, it is still one of my favorite burger places. Great food. Great shakes. Friendly workers.

My family and I went here for dinner. We had chicken strips and burgers. The fries were amazing!!! We each had a milkshake that was the best I've ever had. The servers were very nice and quick. There is out door seating so that was nice when it was 85F out and we had our dog with us! We liked it so much we went back the next day for lunch! We still had chicken strips but my parents got halibut burgers. It was real halibut and a huge piece! Good amount of food for the price!

Friends, coupons, and a history lesson I haven't used a tag line in a while. I know my Yelp friend on the other coast won't mind the plagiarism, if you could call it that, since it's a newfangled melange of words. If you've got a name like Mike's Drive-In and you've been in existence a long time, that says something favorable, in most cases. Another Yelp friend reviewed this Clackamas County institution and it piqued my curiosity. Then, a colorful coupon arrived. The time had come to go to Mike's. The featured item on the Mike's Drive-In coupon was the Walla Walla - Tillamook cheeseburger basket which, when you read closely, is named that because it features sauteed Walla Walla (WA) onions. Normally, I don't order onions if I have to be around people out of basic courtesy, thinking how some of my teachers used to drink bad black coffee and smoke cigarettes and then talk to me after doing so, invading my personal space ... less than a foot away from my face. However, if not expecting to be around people, onions are good and good for you. The Walla Walla burger basket was a hit. I also ordered the tater tots instead of the fries. I'm glad that Mike's, as well as many other places these days, offer that option. Now, Oregon City is but a handful of off ramps down the freeway, but it's a city with many personalities and I am not an expert on getting around it. There is the historic downtown that looks like it's out of a Western movie, older homes and buildings up on the hill above downtown, newer subdivisions and shopping, and rural areas. So, I thought I'd get off downtown, drive up 7th St., and go to Mike's. Wrong! The minute you turn down 7th downtown, a bluff is staring at you in the face. And so is the Oregon City Municipal Elevator. So, park down below, take the free elevator, exercise your glutes, and walk the handful of blocks to Mike's Drive-In. This being confronted by that bluff was a big part of this eating adventure. Mike's Drive-In is bucolic in an A&W sort of way. It's also kitsch. With its "hat" atop the restaurant, it looks like something you would have seen decked out in thatching on some funky but good Polynesian dives of my childhood in SoCal where there are now condos. Mike's has ample parking and outdoor seating under a long canopy. The service is casual and friendly, with one employee who walked by suggesting other good things to try in the future, the place is laid back, the prices are fair, and your order is "made to order." Their menu is vast. They also have a tip jar instead of a tip line on the receipt that comes out of the register, leaving it to your discretion to tip, so that's less pushy and appreciated. Also, you don't really need coupons. There is a happy hour with good prices and other specials. I plan on returning and, if you like burger grub type places, I recommend that you give Mike's Drive-In in O.C., and not "the O.C.," a try.

One of the better locations around. Lots of outdoor seating is always nice during the summer with a cold milkshake in hand. Makes me reminiscent of summers here as a teenager. Good burgers, great milkshakes and their onion rings and ranch are one of my favorites!

Great food, great service, one of the best caramel milkshakes I have ever had! The baskets are huge and super inexpensive for what you get! We had the guacamole and Swiss burger basket, applewood bacon and white cheddar burger basket, shrimp basket and kids burger basket...all were fantastic!!

I usually don't like burgers, but Mike's Drive In's Mushroom Burger is the bomb! The fries are tasty, and the potato salad is also delicious. Yeah they are pricey, but the food is really good and worth the price.

Loooooooooooove this place! Best burgers I've have in awhile! And their milkshakes, really!?! So good! My husband and I walked there every Tuesday during the summer for their summer milkshake special. Only downside I see is they are a bit pricy for a dive drive in but honestly the food's so good it's worth it!

I have been here an uncountable amount of times and never been disappointed. I normally order the old fashioned milkshake (Chocolate), Cherry cake, Halibut Fish Fillet - a quarter lb halibut fish fillet, tartar sauce, tomatoes and lettuce (You might want to ask for more tartar sauce on the side) or Bacon Cheese Burger - I really like the crispy extra thick apple smoked bacon. O so good!!! :) Don't stuff your face and just drive home! Go for a walk around Oregon City, there's always plenty to do & see.

It was good. Bacon cheese burgers and sweet potato fries. I haven't tried their shakes, which I would really like to do. The food was an average drive in type place.

I love this place. I've been going there for years. It's a classic drive in hamburger joint with many options for anyone. Any time I'm craving a good burger I try to go to Mike's.

I really want to throw this place under the bus. The service here is horrible, the counter guy was a jerk, the fries here suck, they don't clean up too well, and I get the feeling that the burgers aren't too tasty, either (and probably not worth the money). So, I wanted to do all of that, but I just couldn't, almost entirely because of their tasty raspberry dark chocolate shake. It's made with Ghiradelli chocolate, and made thick with raspberry puree. Very tasty, and I heard that they have malt here (I will forgive them further if it is the powdered variety). And, that, my friends, was enough for a passable 3 star review. It's the little things, ya know? Granted, this is still a horrible place in general, and they don't deserve the praise they get thanks to their mediocre food and terrible service, and they wouldn't get any from me at all if it weren't for the delicious shakes, which is the only reason why I would even imagine returning to this place again.

I feel like Mike's has got to be our Oregon equivalent to what all those Californians are raving about when they talk about In-N-Out burger. It has a large variety of classic diner as well as current menu items. They serve Tillamook ice cream and local baked goods. Everything is made to order and though the prices are higher than your typical divey restaurant, the quality makes up for it. My fav.: deep fried pickles!

So sad... after reading the great reviews and moving only two mins away I decided to try mikes... I love love a good banana milkshake... so off I went here's what happened: Large family orders 5 milkshakes before me one person orders a peanut butter I order a peanut butter banana... while watching two girls make the milkshakes the frizee haired one got the peanut butter and peanut butter banana milkshake mixed up... The logical thing to do would be to remake them but then I hear the words customers dread... " gotta use my nose to smell the peanut butter milkshake" I proceeded to watch her smell taste and smell again both milkshakes. She then proceeded to hand the milkshakes to the family. I watched one of the kids say his tasted like banana. I took a peek in mine and no chunks of banana. The dad of the family proceeded to take is caramel milkshake up saying it was accidentally banana. They put it behind the counter. I then brought my milkshake up and told them it was just peanut butter. The same girl who smelled it grabbed it and took it behind the counter. She then grab the banana milkshake that was now melted and already someone elses. She then mixed peanut butter into that milkshake and a little ice cream to make it less runny. She then handed me this concoction. Grossed out frustrated and now having cold food. A guy who worked their quickly grabbed the milkshake after I told him what happened and tried to make it right. Employees kept coming up talking to each other about the awful event. It felt like high school! So I left with a properly made milkshake it only took three times a cold hamburger and cold fries. I was so grossed out I didn't even want to know how my hamburger was made. I drove down the street and gave my food to homeless person sharing my story with him. He said lucky for him but that it was definitely gross. At least I did my good deed for the night. But thats 45 minutes $11 and my tummy grossed out but rumbling. I hope I can give this another try but it will be quite a long time.

I love Mike's Drive in! Giant baskets of fries, huge variety of milk shake flavors, about a zillion burgers to choose from, and it's local! This place is a bit pricier than most fast food, but you get what you pay for. The closest fast food I could compare it to is Burgerville, but it is even better than that. There's lots of outdoor seating and inside is a jukebox.

I love this place and the people working here. They seem a little gruff at first. They'll look at you like "what the hell do you want?", but I kind of like that about the place. Very good burger and fries for the price. WAY better than McDonalds and cheaper. Their family night (Tuesday nights) is a great deal. They start and stop it throughout the year, so you'll want to call ahead of you aren't a regular. $5 for a Cheeseburger basket, fries, an extra side (I get a cookie) and a drink. Usually they throw in a free soft serve ice cream cone too. They're in the process of permitting for building a brand new restaurant towards the front of the lot which is much needed. I'm looking forward to them getting that done. Please add wi-fi sometime. Good burgers, corn dogs for the kids and a great value. Not perfect, but it would be tough to find a better deal for the money.

Mike's Drive In has great burgers, fries, fish & chips, gardenburgers, etc. Also a huge selection of milkshakes. Prices are decent and you can usually find a coupon in the mail without looking too far. The staff are very friendly. My only complaint is that they discontinued the pretzel-bread buns and started offering Dave's Killer Bread buns instead. And I am heart-broken over this. The pretzel-bread buns were SOOOOOO good and the perfect texture. The Dave's buns are too heavy. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Mike's, please bring back the pretzel bread bun!!

I took the family here for dinner tonight. We ate outside which is always fun. We've been here quite a few times and it's always good. Tonight, though, was exceptional. I had Mike's Special Deluxe burger (cheddar, bacon, fried egg, onion tomato, pickle, lettuce, and special sauce on a toasted bun). I eat a lot of burgers and this one was one of the best I have had in ages. Spectacular flavor and the crispy edges of the egg and crispy bacon made it PERFECT! The service was super-friendly too. To top it off, the manager gave us our ice-cream cones for free. I'd recommend Mike's to anyone.

The only reason for the 2-star rating is that I've been to all three Mike's locations. Unfortunately, the OC location doesn't measure up to the Sellwood or Milwaukie locations. Service isn't as good and the food quality is less as well.

Stop in here all the time for a quick lunch, they have great burgers and fish and chips. We usually sit outside so the dogs can join us. Nice friendly staff. An old fashioned burger joint with good food.

I want to give Mike's Drive In five stars because their milkshakes are amazing, but their service was horrible (when we went). Normally, I don't care about service because I'm more interested in the food I'm eating than the people serving it to me. But sometimes the service is just so bad that it has to be mentioned. So now that we have that taken care of... you have to try the milkshakes! They have every flavor imaginable!

There is NOTHING I dislike about Mike's. They make the most perfect burgers and onion rings. The perfect greasy burger hands down. I most recently had the BLT and really I think I died and went to heaven. The bread was crisp to perfection on the outside but still chewy on the inside. I hate cutting my mouth on to toasty bread! The onion rings melt in your mouth. Cherry coke makes my meal amazing. I can't wait to try their milk shakes and fried seafood.

Very good! Fries, soft serve, and shakes are delish! Burger was tasty but could have used more seasoning and i had hoped for american cheese rather than cheddar. Not a cheap eat.

Place is absolutely great. The extreme garlic fries will knock your socks off, and with one of their excellent milkshakes, the world could be no better at that moment!
